We hit the road and travelled west towards South
Dakota. The landscape definitely changes
once you pass the Missouri River. After
the river it changed from flat grasslands and farmlands to rolling countryside.
As you travel west on I-90 you see one billboard after
another. We started seeing boards for
Wall Drug at least 300 miles from Wall, South Dakota. Wall Drug is a tourist town that decided a
long time ago to lure people from the highway by placing hundreds of
billboards. Ultimately, the town is just
a glorified shopping mall with all kinds of country kitsch for sale. Touristy, yes. Worth it?
I guess.
Some of the other billboards we saw were for “1880 Town” and
of course for Mt Rushmore.
